Having established an iconic Food Hall Market in London, KERB is bringing its street food magic to the Berlin food scene with the grand opening of their first ever European Food Hall in Berlin.This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for KERB and will hopefully be the first step to delivering multiple future Food Halls across Europe as part of a wider global strategy for KERB Ventures Limited.KERB is a business that powers other businesses. We focus on the incubation and growth of innovative, independent food businesses. Be it food entrepreneurs or team members, our mission is to create opportunity and joy through great food, from the KERB up.Role OverviewOur first hire on the ground in Berlin will be our most important. There is a core team in London working on architecture, design, brand and comms, people, finance and marketing so there is no shortage of support for this venture.As General Manager of our Berlin Food Hall, you will oversee the establishment of and execute the delivery of our Berlin Food Hall. Reporting to the MD of KERB Ventures, you will be fully responsible and accountable for this new opening across all areas of the business (not just the Ops), and its ongoing performance as a business.This role will involve the creation of KERB Berlin (which is a new entity, 100% owned by KERB Ventures Ltd in the UK) and leading all operations and logistics as well as all the support functions locally; working closely with finance, marketing, operational and HR teams to deliver a best in class food hall experience, and a profitable business with an exciting future. You will also be expected to link in closely with KERB HQ where you also have support and from where you will receive cultural and business steering.You’ll hold key relationships with our suppliers in Berlin and further afield in Germany, the KERB UK senior management team and all other stakeholders and partners.What you’ll be doingLeading on the opening of the first Berlin Market HallManage the relationship between all parties, including KERB UK, suppliers, vendors, staff, as well as finance, HR and marketing teamsNegotiating legal agreements with suppliers, vendors and contractors, with support from KERB UKDesigning and implementing robust systems to support the new businessOversight of all commercial & compliance activities across the food hallCoach, mentor and support all managers and heads of departments and central management teamCollaborate with the People & Culture team to develop and deliver recruitment, onboarding, payroll and reward & L+D projects within the businessWork with the marketing team to develop a robust sales and marketing planDevelop an operating plan to ensure that the site can achieve financial budgetEnsure we are constantly delivering on KERB core Pillars, Mission and Vision and exceeding on expectation with engagement surveysShape and create a culture and environment where people want to workBe a brand ambassador of KERB in BerlinWhat you’ll bring to KERBAn experienced leader, with extensive experience in EU hospitality sectors with a track record of driving businesses through major periods of growthBilingual German and English speakerSomeone who thrives with self motivation, who can take ownership and lead a complex operationWell versed in the legalities (licensing, food safety, H&S etc.) of opening & operating large, complex hospitality venues in Germany, specifically BerlinCapable of building high performing teams from scratchPhenomenal financial acumen, experienced in managing detailed P&L accountsValid passport with no restrictions on EU/UK travelThis list is in no way exhaustive and the incumbent may be asked to perform other tasks to help out the wider KERB team (within reason!)Equal Opportunities at KERBAs part of our values, we are dedicated to fostering a culture of inclusivity at KERB.
